Shelley Vase

DETAILS

Crafted in Los Angeles, each piece is individually thrown, pulled, shaped and trimmed on the wheel by hand by a single master potter. Made from a 3.5lb mixture of reclaimed dark clays, this vase goes through two firing processes. First, it is bisque fired to remove all moisture and harden its form. It’s then hand-dipped twice in a creamy, dark glaze, placed back in the kiln and fired again for at least 12 hours at around 2400 degrees Fahrenheit. It is the specific combination of this clay and glaze that gives the piece its moody, simmering, complex exterior.

Each item is entirely unique, its final form dictated only by Tad’s mood, inspiration or fortuitous quirks that occur in the moment while at the wheel.
