Spaniol Cabinet

The exterior of this cabinet is comprised of a supple Spanish leather, treated and dyed to achieve a soft, grainy pattern that references imagery of autumnal foliage or cloudy skies. It stands atop four cast bronze legs lightly treated with antique patina and polished for a raw glow, which take on the shape of wooden mallets, an ode to the craft of the cabinetmaker. Inlayed handles composed of bronze meet at the mouth of the leather doors, creating two contrasting lines on the cabinet’s face.
The four leather doors open to reveal dark walnut shelves and drawers within. Inlayed drawer handles are crafted from a corresponding bronze. The result is an artful yet functional cabinet composed of a mixed, natural materiality: hardwood, metal, and textile meet to create a conversation of lush textures.
